Dr Karen Bird

Dr Karen Bird is a Post-Doctoral Fellow with the Flinders University “Open Door” initiative. Her research within Open Door draws upon her background as an intellectual historian and her deep personal commitment to veteran advocacy, informed by the loss of her son, an Afghanistan veteran. Karen is the Deputy Chair of the National Advisory Committee for Open Arms and a Board Member of the Australian War Memorial, bringing invaluable perspectives to Open Door’s work on veteran wellbeing.
